17.6lbs

I guess there's a little fancy boy lycra clad racer in all of us...or at least me. My steel Lemond Sarthe started out at an honest 21lbs. Straight off the line. It's a great bike, the stiffest in Lemond's lineup, and spec'd with good, hard working, reliable parts. None of that extra shiny Dura Ace or Record. Here and there parts come along and the next thing I know, I've turned my Sarthe into a sub-eighteen pound racing machine. Decked out with carbon tubulars, Reynolds Ouzo Pro fork and Carbon cranks, it's pretty much ready to go. I won't ride the tubs everyday, that'd be unintelligent, just on the days when I feel like I should be fronting. Speaking of fronting, I think April 23 is a good day to do my first crit of 2006, that's 14 days away. Then May 21 is Wheels on Willy followed with the Lake Mills tri on June 4. I like going fast. I will be doing more of it. I need to run and swim more. Mostly the running part. Like every day I should be running, that's where I need the most work. So here goes, the weather's nice and I'm itching to be outside.

Superlight Trek bikes work for George Hincapie, and they can work for you, too!
