It's pretty much go time.

I'm back in the saddle after a 3 month break. It wasn't really a break, more of a pit of depression. Thanksgiving my mother-in-law died and my life hasn't really been the same since. I've been mostly just going through the motions, getting through my life. This past saturday I rode about 20 miles (skinny tires), then MOTAB and yesterday I rode at lunch. It feels really good to be riding again. For fun, not some honky goal of loosing weight or going fast, just having fun. I plan to ride today - provided it's not sleeting out. On with the riding. Fun will be had. After all, that's what matters right? It's not your shiny Dura Ace cranks or Chris King headset...side note: I'd put any properly adjusted loose ball headset up against any fancy sealed bearing Cane Creek or Chris King. It might not sparkle as much but damn if it ain't smooth. I think there's a movement in the bike industry of getting away from bike mechanics. If it can't be replaced, most shops aren't willing to trouble-shoot the problem, the just call the manufacture and pin it on them. It's total fucking bullshit. Back to the lecture at hand: I'm happier, I'm riding again, and Red Dog called, he got my stuff. Next Saturday we're going to Iowa to pick up, maybe have a little lunch and my fixie will be ready for it's first ride. Oh! The pic is of a busted chainstay on a fancy carbon bike neither the customer or the dealer is accepting that this was struck by something. They believe it's an example of the company's poor quality in frame materials. See what I mean?!
